In the United Kingdom, American Express has introduced a new flexible payment option, helping small business owners add control over their finances. It is a great feature that enables new Business Platinum and Gold Cardmembers to manage their finances more flexibly than before. Read below to learn more information!
London, UK – In a major shift for business finance, American Express has launched a Flexible Payment Option for its Business Platinum and Gold cardholders in the UK, allowing them to choose how much of their balance to pay each month.
Traditionally, these premium business cards required cardholders to pay their full statement balance monthly. With the new feature, businesses can now pay the full amount, a portion of it, or just the minimum due—interest applies only to unpaid amounts. This marks a move toward a revolving credit facility, giving businesses more control over their cashflow.
The option allows cardholders to manage payments directly through their online accounts or the Amex app, offering a payment approach similar to standard credit cards. American Express also continues to provide up to 54 days of interest-free purchasing if the full balance is paid on time.
The decision comes after research revealed that 31% of small businesses in the UK view cashflow management as a critical challenge, and 26% consider flexible repayment options highly important when selecting financial products.
“Ruchi Sharma”, Vice President of UK Commercial at American Express, said, “Fast access to credit can prevent small business owners from relying on personal savings or taking out additional loans to seize new opportunities.”
The Flexible Payment Option is automatically available to new Business Platinum and Gold applicants. Existing cardholders who wish to take advantage of the new facility will need to submit a fresh application. Other features, such as no pre-set spending limit, remain unchanged, with spending power adapting to the needs and credit profile of each business.
This development positions American Express as a more flexible partner for UK businesses, addressing one of the top concerns for small business owners: managing cash flow efficiently without compromising growth opportunities.
